some resolutions for 2012

1. continue practicing daily rituals (this year, communally)

2. celebrate more (red lipstick, game nights, dinner parties)

3. listen to more classical music (revisit composers i listened to growing up)

4. take better care (sleep early  normal hours, more manicures, more walks)

5. dance (in the studio, at DNA, on the dance floor, in my room)

6. be prolific (less thinking, more doing)

rules for a tunisian collaborative painting

  1. 1. A designated member of the team starts the painting and that person will also be the one who decides when it is finished within the allotted time period (usually 2–3 hours).
  2. 2. Anyone on the team can paint at any time.
  3. 3. Anyone can paint over another team member’s work.
  4. 4. Another designated member is an arbiter in case of a dispute.
//makes me think of moments in performance and choreography that even when improvising there are moments that ‘work’ and ones that ‘don’t’.  and also in interpreting visual work - conversations with different groups of people in front of the same work will come to the same conclusions of an interpretation…  once on one of my tours we came to the conclusion that the right answer is out there, it is just unknowable.

Nervous About November

Show me the radius out from this body.
Autumn equinox, alone-time shapes up

with a manual written in the language
of long walks, caffeine in a paper cup holder.
On every street, a person wants to go

inside a leaf, turn from green to red.
bright color of what took a season to live
in that one second to fall.

- John Kovatch

//every autumn I think of these words from the writer who gave them to me while I was living in LA.
